Klaipėda Book Fair

In addition to immersing you in the world of art and literature, the “Enculturation” Festival invites you to discover new books and publishers. The Book Fair is one of the highlights of the festival, bringing together book enthusiasts and publishing professionals alike. It is a space where literary diversity throbs and readers have a unique opportunity to discover the latest literature.

During the fair, you will meet both well-known Lithuanian publishers and smaller ones offering niche literature. It is not only a place to buy and sell books, but also a lively interaction with those who create the world of literature.

The Book Fair is a part of the festival where every visitor can find something for himself or herself: from the latest fiction to specialised scientific literature, from the best-known authors to those who are just starting out. It’s a place where literature comes alive and books become more than just an object of reading…

Venue: Coffee studio “Kavos architektai” (Harkaus Manto str. 25)

The graphic works presented in the exhibition by Bernardas Burba are collages of past and present realities, capturing elements that are recognisable to every Lithuanian, but which have never met in the same time and space: the bread oven next to the mailboxes, the well at the entrance of an apartment block, the straw “garden” adorning the mirror of a trolleybus, a beehive next to the window in the room, etc.

About the artist

Bernardas Burba is an artist who draws with ink and pen, and prints with silkscreen. His inspiration comes from the city, its buildings and details, and his frequent motifs are trolleybuses, fragments of his childhood and the minutiae of everyday life.

L.b. Norkute Connection Connection

Lina Beata Norkutė’s exhibition “Connection”

Time: 23 September-10 October

Venue:Klaipėda County Ievos Simonaitytė Public Library, White Gallery, 2nd floor. (Herkaus Manto str. 25)

In the exhibition, painter Lina Beata Norkutė seeks to convey the depth of the moment, to find an answer to the question of what makes people happy. “My paintings are stories that create a connection to the past. As long as they are alive, the past is alive. The spice of nostalgia makes life charming. I love to hear how the viewer interprets the images painted on the canvases, passing them on through their own inner experiences. As a guide, I always give them the title of the work and I am delighted when they find new approaches to my subject”, says the artist. According to her, we are now living in a reality that has never been so easy to connect with, yet the ever-brightening future suddenly begins to darken when we start to realise that the phone connection does not bind us to our loved ones, but to the screen – we are gradually losing our connection to nature and the past. The author would like visitors to her exhibition to establish a close connection between themselves – their experiences and the stories she tells.
