Marius Burokas

Poet and translator. Studied Lithuanian language and literature at Vilnius University.
From 2016 to 2023, he worked as the editor of the English-language Lithuanian literary magazine Vilnius Review and the website vilniusreview.com, and is also one of the editors of the Baltic English-language literary magazine “No More Amber”. His first book of poetry, Ideograms, was published by Vaga in 1999. His second book of poetry, “Būsenos” was published by the Writers Union Publishing House in 2005. The third book “Išmokau nebūti” was published in 2011 by “Tyto alba”. For this book, the author was awarded the Young Jotvingis Prize in 2011 and the Antanas Miškinis Prize in 2012. The fourth book of poetry “Švarus buvimas” (Clean Presence) was published in 2018.
“I Understand” was published in the United Kingdom by Parthian Books. A book of poems in Ukrainian, Найменші речі, was also published in 2018. The author’s poetry collection in Polish, “Tu mieszkał Jonasz”, was published in 2021. His poetry has been translated into Polish, Russian, Latvian, Finnish, Slovenian, English, German, French, Georgian, Swedish, Spanish, Ukrainian and other languages.

His poems are also included in the anthology “New European Poets” (Greywolf Press, 2008).
