Book launch of the Lithuanian Sea Museum’s “Around the World on the Sailing Ship “Moshulu”

Participants: journalist and guide Kristina Sadauskienė and Romualdas Adomavičius, Deputy Director of the Lithuanian Maritime Museum and Chief Curator of the Museum’s collections.
The Museum invites you to a unique encounter with an exceptional interwar testimony – the diary of sailor, yachtsman and certified navigator Vytautas Bagdanavičius, written during his apprenticeship on the legendary sailing ship “Moshulu”. When he was just 16, he sailed around the world twice and recorded his impressions both in writing and in photographs. The event will not only bring to life the adventures and daily routines at sea – from the dank cabins to the rituals of Neptune’s Watch – but also the authentic spirit of the historical period. This publication is not only a personal adventure, but also a valuable document that provides insight into the lives of seafarers of the time and the pages of Lithuania’s maritime history. The publication is edited by historians Daumantas Kiulkys and Algimantas Patašius.
