Lyric poetry competition “From Baroque to Today: Simon Dach and Contemporary Klaipėda Poetry”
Participants: translator and writer Dr Laurynas Katkus; actor Vytautas Kairys.
What is the connection between the poems of Klaipėda-born poet Simon Dach and the poetry of contemporary poets in the city? Is the Baroque spirit still alive in today’s literature? How did a famous poet of the 17th century see Klaipėda and how is it reflected by contemporary artists? All this will be discussed in the literary competition, which will build a bridge from the Baroque to the present day, where the poetry of Klaipėda’s inhabitants will be presented by Laurynas Katkus and Vytautas Kairys.
