Vytautas Kairys

Puppet theatre actor, director and composer.

In 2015 he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre (Directing specialization) at Klaipėda University. V. Kairys is a professional, versatile, and expressive puppet theatre actor, having created more than 14 roles in productions at the Klaipėda Puppet Theatre. In 2015 he also composed music for a performance “Coliukė“, and in 2014-2015 he was the composer of the cycle of performances for babies “Miego pagalvėlės – sapnų pasakėlės”. In 2017, he directed the year-long project “Familija”, which involved over 20 Klaipėda artists and culminated in a musical theatrical concert with live music. Kairys is an active member of the creative team of the international puppet theatre festival “Materia magica”. His recent works have received the highest accolades: in 2021, his performance “The Big Bang”, in which he acted and co-wrote, won the Golden Stage Cross and the Klaipėda City’s “Gratitude Mask” in the category of children’s and young people’s performances, and in 2022, his role in the light and matter performance “Tunnel” and his co-writing earned him another Golden Stage Cross in 2023.
