Outstanding German jazz musician and composer.

He studied jazz percussion and composition in Dresden and Leipzig, and has collaborated with renowned contemporary jazz artists and composers.

During his studies, Philipp gained international recognition: in 2007 he won the Jugend Jazzt competition, in 2014 the Neuer Münchner Jazzpreis, and in 2017 he was the winner of the Marion Ermer Foundation’s jazz prize in Leipzig. He is also a laureate of the B’Jazz Award in Burghausen. In 2016, together with the poet Nora Gomringer, he received a scholarship from the Goethe-Institut Villa Kamogawa for a residency in Kyoto, Japan.

Philipp has performed and hosted concerts in countries around the world, including India, USA, Japan, Kenya, UK, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Norway, Poland, Latvia and Romania.

During his career he has studied and collaborated with masters such as Werner Neumann, Heinrich Köbberling, Rudi Mahall, Pablo Held, Hayden Chisholm, Jürgen Friedrich, Uli Kempendorff, Yves Theiler, Johannes Enders, Chris Pitsiokos, Claudio Puntin and Nora Gomringer.
