Dr Laurynas Katkus

Writer, translator.

Studied Lithuanian Studies and Comparative Literature at the Universities of Vilnius, Norwich, Leipzig and Berlin, and defended his doctoral thesis on exile in Lithuanian and German poetry.

L. Katkus has published several collections of poetry and essays, a novel “Moving Shadows” , and his most recent book of prose “Nakvynė Berlyne ” (2022). His work has been translated into more than ten languages, and six books have appeared in German and English.

As a translator, L. Katkus has translated several books from German, English and Yiddish. His most important translations include works by Susanna Sontag, Walter Benjamin, Friedrich Hölderlin, Avram Sutzkever, Ernst Jünger and Simon Dach.
